The small community of Hamlet sits at the edge of Tomales Bay near Point Reyes California. From 1875 to 1930, Hamlet was a whistlestop on the original North Pacific Coast Narrow Gauge Railroad. Its decline followed the increasing siltation of the bay. The site today is a ruin.

This narrow one-mile strip of sandy beach and rocky coves is located in Pacific Grove California on the Monterey Peninsula between Monterey and Pebble Beach. A 3/4-mile coast-walking trail is open to pedestrians.

Big Sur is located 130 road miles south of San Francisco. The rugged Big Sur region coastline is roughly 90 miles in length along California's coastal Highway 1 between Carmel and San Simeon.
