Landscape Pictures In Colorado

Paradise Pass at Sunrise

Paradise Pass is located in near Crested Butte Colorado above Washington Gulch. There are three small ponds located at Paradise Pass that offer endless photographic opportunities. The best time to photograph these ponds and reflections is at sunrise when the water is calm.

Looking Up Through the Aspens

Aspens turn bright yellow (and sometimes orange) during Autumn at the end of September in Colorado. I like this image, shot near Vail Colorado, because in contains the complementary colors, yellow and blue. I used a polarizer to saturate the blue sky.

Maroon Bells and Maroon Lake Reflections

The Maroon Bells are located near Aspen Colorado. This location can be photographed anytime of the year, but I think Autumn and Winter are best. Photograph this location at sunrise or early morning when the sun is behind you. A split neutral density filter is also recommended or you can use my Digital Filter article to blend to images.

Ghost Town Of Alta

Alta is small ghost town between Telluride and Rico. At one time, a few hundred people lived here. Alta Lakes and Gold King Basin nearby and offer photo opportunities.

Crested Butte

Crested Butte is known as the Wildflower Capital of Colorado. Peak season is from mid July to early August. In addition to wildflowers, Crested butte is surrounded by the lush green mountains. This photo is taken along Gothic Road.

Gardens of the Gods - Kissing Camels

Garden of the Gods is located in Colorado Springs and offers dramatic red sandstone formations and views of snow-capped Pikes Peak in the background. The best time to photograph this area is a dawn, because the sandstone turns a brilliant orange for about 10 minutes.
